Common Cooling System Issues

Low Refrigerant

Freon is the refrigerant gas that helps your air conditioner cool the air that is circulated through your house. An issue in installation or even a leak can cause inadequate levels of freon and prevent the air from being properly cooled.

Improper Maintenance

Dirty or clogged filters reduce the overall airflow of the HVAC system which forces it to work harder to do its job. This not only impacts performance, but also takes a toll on the life of the equipment and can cause the compressor or fan to fail.

Faulty Wiring

Any issue surrounding faulty wiring can have significant repercussions. This can cause a lack of power to the unit, blow a breaker, or in extreme cases be a potential fire hazard.

Outside Fan Operation

The fan in the outside portion of your cooling system is used to keep the compressor from overheating. If there is any malfunction with the fan it can cause serious issues for the compressor and ultimately the cooling system.

Frozen Coil

Condensation Lines are designed to drip excess moisture on to drip pans located below them. If dust and other debris in the system get caught on the condensation lines it will build up sludge and ultimately freeze. If this happens the system will be unable to cool the air.
